The other day I had to return my old cable box to Comcast. I was getting hungry and saw Salazar’s Mexican Food on the way. Their sign mentioned that their Mexican food was made from scratch, so I knew where I was going to be having lunch.
I don’t care if a restaurant is a bit run down physically, as long as the food is good. The outside of this place isn’t all that attractive. The inside is a little better.
A nice young girl brought me my chips and salsa, the granddaughter of a lady who must be an owner. The chips were very thick and crunchy. Really good. The salsa was totally wimpy and I could tell I confused the lady when I asked for hotter salsa. They were kind enough to make up some more salsa for me, but it was barely more spicy.
I opted for a two enchilada plate with rice and beans. The enchiladas were decent, but not as good as I’d hoped. The rice and beans were on par with the meal, good but not great.
Given the fact that there is a lot of really great Mexican food in Salt Lake, I probably wouldn’t choose to go to Salazar’s again because there are many places which are better.
